چکیده

BackgroundAntenatal magnesium sulfate is widely used as a tocolytic, for maternal seizures, and seizure prophylaxis in preeclampsia. Recent studies have suggested that antenatal use associated with favorable neurodevelopmental outcomes preterm infants. However, there are concerns regarding the effects of on neonates, especially gastrointestinal morbidities. This study aims to explore intestinal morbidities requiring surgery infants.MethodsThis was retrospective cohort 181 infants who were born at less than 28 weeks gestational age. Subjects categorized exposed those not sulfate.ResultsAntenatal decreased risk surgical conditions intestine (OR 0.393, 95% CI 0.170–0.905). The multivariate analysis showed duration (adjusted OR 0.766, 0.589–0.997). In <26 age subgroup, significantly 0.234, 0.060–0.922).ConclusionAntenatal appears protective effect duration-dependent manner. Association more distinct Antenatal sulfate. 0.060–0.922).

School-age outcomes of very preterm infants after antenatal treatment with magnesium sulfate vs placebo.

IMPORTANCE Antenatal magnesium sulfate given to pregnant women at imminent risk of very preterm delivery reduces the risk of cerebral palsy in early childhood, although its effects into school age have not been reported from randomized trials. OBJECTIVE To determine the association between exposure to antenatal magnesium sulfate and neurological, cognitive, academic, and behavioral outcomes a...

Prediction of respiratory outcome in extremely low gestational age infants.

BACKGROUND Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a commonly used outcome for randomized neonatal trials. OBJECTIVES The aim of the present study was to determine whether a diagnosis of BPD or respiratory morbidity (RM1 or RM2) at 12 months corrected age better predicted subsequent RM in extremely low gestational age infants (23-28 weeks of gestation). METHODS Initial analysis was undertaken i...

Implementation of an antenatal magnesium sulfate protocol for fetal neuroprotection in preterm infants

The aim of our study was to assess the feasibility of implementing a protocol for the use of magnesium sulfate to prevent cerebral palsy. This retrospective single-center study included all women with fetuses of gestational age <33 weeks of gestation whose birth was planned or expected within 24 hours from September 2011 to December 2012. They were to receive magnesium sulfate, administered int...
